Join us as we look back on our 2019!
Although you may have your own unique New Year’s Eve traditions, there is one thing that almost everyone across the world will be doing in the hours leading up to the final countdown to January 1st: reflecting on the year that has gone by. Before popping the champagne and celebrating the new year, we wanted to take the opportunity to pause and look back on our triumphs and adventures of 2019, as well as renew our New Year’s resolutions.
Lyndsay Borshke, President & Designer
New Year’s Resolution(s):
Organize my schedule more efficiently and expand Tuck Shop Trading Co. into two new markets.
A Positive Thing That Happened This Year:
Welcoming our third child, Baby Willa, to this crazy, wild world and being surrounded by an amazing support team. Being a mom and an entrepreneur definitely is not easy, but knowing I could rely on our fabulous, hard working Tuck Shop team made the sleepless nights and delirious days all the more manageable.
Personal Growth:
Ha! Literally grew a human in my belly. Now it’s time to focus on growing Tuck Shop into a globally recognized brand
Linnea Sage, Retail & E-Commerce Manager
New Year’s Resolution(s):
To visit a place I’ve never been before - either in Canada or abroad. And as with every year, drink more water and get more sleep.
A Positive Thing That Happened This Year:
My highlight of 2019 was having the opportunity to travel to Vietnam for a month. A close friend moved there in 2018 for a teaching position and it was amazing to be able to visit her new home and explore the country with her. I loved Vietnam and it’s a place I hope to return to sooner rather than later.
Personal Growth:
2019 was a year of change. It was the first year I was no longer a student, and as someone who LOVES structure in their life, this was a big adjustment. Although not having consistent structure was a challenge at first, it allowed me the freedom to try new things and gain further knowledge and experience both career-wise, and personally.
Laura Lee, Retail & Sales MVP
New Year’s Resolution(s):
My New Year’s resolution is to participate in a cross-fit competition and to continue upgrading my school marks!
Positive thing that happened this year:
Joining LIFT! It’s brought me back to my good-ol’ track days and being part of a team surrounded by like-minded people. LIFT has also reminded me to not take life too seriously and to make time for fun and play!
Personal Growth:
LOL I’ve learned that I don’t need to stop at the intersection on a right turn during a green light when there aren’t any pedestrians crossing! On a more serious note, I’ve learned the power of ‘no’, that ‘no’ isn’t a negative thing, and that it's okay to simply say “no” without feeling guilty or squirming to give reason why.
Bronwyn MacLauchlan, Administrative & E-Commerce Assistant
New Year’s Resolution(s):
For 2020, my ultimate goal is to work on building my self-assurance - oh, and to be more organized!
A Positive Thing That Happened This Year:
One of the most positive parts of my 2019 was when I began working at Tuck Shop! Being a part of an intimate, female-lead and operated business with an immensely strong sense of community is incredibly unique, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and work with such a wonderful group of smart and talented women!
Personal Growth:
I started off 2019 as focused as ever on a career in accounting and finance, but by the half-way point I had a change of heart and realized that I actually wanted to go into social media and branding. To me, 2019 will always be the year that I found my direction.
We wish you a safe evening full of fun, laughter, and endless champagne - Cheers to 2020 and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
XOXO, Team Tuck Shop
